As part of Mary Nally’s bold curation for the Venice Biennale 2024, the Ireland x Iceland Opening Drop Party, titled The Irish Party, brought a reimagined vision of Irish culture to an iconic shipyard in the Arsenale. The event celebrated creative freedom, cultural connection, and a fusion of tradition and modernity. Representing Ireland at this prestigious international stage was Eimear Walshe, whose practice exemplifies the vitality and progressive spirit of contemporary Irish art.
As Creative Director, I collaborated with an exceptional team to co-create an experience that encouraged new perspectives, embraced process-driven exploration, and showcased Ireland’s cultural tapestry in a rare late-night venue with a capacity for 450 esteemed guests to dance and express themselves.
The night featured unforgettable performances from Björk, DJ Rupture, Mohammad Syf Khan, Mister Silla, Byron Yeates, B3rkeley, and Karl Kunger/Berglind, creating a sensory journey of sound and solidarity.
The event aimed to blend elements of audio visual design with a communal culinary celebration by Harry Colley, adding a uniquely Irish twist to Venetian flavors. This sensory experience reflected the shared ethos of connection and celebration, supported by leading cultural institutions and patrons.
